This years Gold Expedition was held over four days, three nights in the Lake District. An unforgettable experience on the first day with some serious ascents and hillwalking. However, the reward of being able to see Scotland when the mist cleared from the hilltops was priceless!
Journey’s end was at a sun-kissed Thirlmere. Our 7 intrepid Explorers each received a packet of the celebrated Sarah Nelson’s Grasmere Gingerbread as a treat for finishing. They are the only outlet in the world for this gingerbread and very popular.
This Gold DofE group showed fantastic spirit over the weekend, helping and encouraging one another in a way that shows a huge improvement on their practice expeditions. Richard, Group Leader said it was a real privilege to be part of this expedition and all should be proud of what they achieved.
I won’t say our route was challenging, but the team compared routes with another Gold DofE group and they said “trust the Scouts to make it difficult for themselves!”
Congratulation to all who took part. Now all you need is to finish off the other parts for a trip to see a Royal. Well Done.
